We went to a super museum, one of the biggest I’ve seen, spread over seveal acres, Brooklands (in Weybridge, Surrey) has vintage cars, buses, bikes, planes and helicopters. For me the real highlight was the planes, actually being able to go into some of the old planes, including a concorde, although book in advance or get there early for the concorde experience. There even have the plane of a Sheikh there if you want to see how the ultra rich customise thier aircrafts.
I didn’t get as many photos as I’d have liked, but this video should give you a flavour. There’s a reasonable coffee shop, there’s a baby change area in the ladies, it’s a basic fold out table. I would suggest a trip in the summer time, we went in October, it was definately coat weather. For an extra charge they can make your ticket open for a whole year, you don’t need to decide as you enter. If you like it and want to upgrade your ticket you can do it as you exit the museum, just keep the reciept and ask to extend it for a whole year. They advertised special events through the year, when we went they were advertising a halloween event.
It’s next door to Mercedes Benz world where you can book your kids for a fifteen minute spin around their indoor track, suitable for kids three to five.
All in all another great day out for kids. If you’ve been let me know what you think and please share any other great days out that you’ve found, especially the off the beaten track day out for kids.
Brooklands museum’s address is Brooklands Museum Trust Ltd, Brooklands Road, Weybridge, Surrey, KT13 0QN thier map is here
Thanks
