Arts and Crafts for Kids – Get Fired

25 December, 2013 by farhan Leave a Comment

I recently found this great place to take the arts and crafts for kids, it is a very simple concept, you select a clay figure to paint and decorate, the shop supplies you with all the things you need (it has a nice coffee and cake shop too), you paint it, they put in in an over and bake it for you.  You get a lovely bespoke piece of art that you painted yourself .

For birthday parties it went well,  you will have to provide all the kids food yourself, it is a bit tight, I think we had about 14 kids around the table.  There were two banks of tables, when it gets full it can get quite full.

for younger kids there are toys and books to keep them busy

The shop is called Get Fired in Croydon, South London, I went there for a four year old birthday party, it was great, the kids sat down nicely, listened to the instructor (who was very patient) and kept themselves busy for about twenty minutes.  I noticed other kids of older ages were able to focus and concentrate for upto thirty minutes plus – their parents were enjoying a nice cup of coffee.

The shop provides some nice mellow almost folk music, the kind of thing you want to relax while your child is busy or you engage in the activity yourself.  In summary I would hold a birthday party here, I think from age six the children would get more out of it.  It would be somewhere I would take my kids to on a rainy afternoon to go and relax with them – I love doing art anyway so to be able to share this activity with my kids would make a nice afternoon.

Here are the shop’s details, there’s a car park further down the road on the left (heading back into Croydon) or on the right (heading towards Brigthon) by the church.  If you can’t find parking there go up Pampisford road and then walk through the Church steps to get straight there.  I didn’t see a changing table for little babies, it seemed to have step free access too.  Always worth phoning ahead of time to make sure that there’s space or to book a place.

If you go there please leave a comment below and let me know what you thought.

Thanks for reading
